Bel Air Harp Guitar

The Karol Belair Harp guitar is based upon the Knutsen and Dyer Harp guitars of the early 20th century, with a few modern twists. The body shape is mostly Knutsen, with the upper point in the lower bout used to create a beveled armrest. The interior top and back bracing is based upon that of the Dyers, of which most have survived quite well for over 100 years. Additionally, carbon fibre buttress braces have been added to support the neck blocks of both the guitar neck and harp headstock.

Karol Belair harps are available with 5, 6, or 7 sub strings, sharping levers, super trebles, cutaway, armrest and ribrest, multiscale fingerboards and slotted headstock on the guitar neck.

Due to the size requirements for harp guitar backs and sides, a limited number of wood species are available at this time for harp construction. In stock back and sides woods include Honduran Mahogany, Figured Sapele, African Mahogany (Khaya), and Claro Walnut. Tops currently in stock include Sitka spruce (straight grain and bearclaw), Lutz spruce, and Red Cedar.
