The first MP3 recording was done by Don Alder on the guitar which I custom built for him. Three tracks were recorded as follows in a home studio :
Left channel is a Neumann 183, right channel is an AKG 4050, these were doubled and the reverb added. The centre position on the playback is an internal AKG magnetic mic through a Pendulum preamp. Hope you enjoy the track as much as I do !!!
The next set of MP3's were recorded in the living room of an average home, no studio tricks, gimmicks or otherwise were involved. The equipment used to record the guitars were as follows:
Audio Technica 4033 large diaphram condenser microphone, positioned 12 inches off the bridge. Audio Technica 3035 small diaphram condenser microphone positioned 12 inches off fingerboard, near 12th fret.
Signal chain - above microphones into a Mackie 1202VLZ compact mixer, into a Yamaha AW16G hard drive recorder. All effects/EQ set to flat or bypassed. No overdubs, pitch correction or other enhancement was done to the tracks. What you hear is pure guitar tone and sustain.
Signature non-cutaway in Sitka/Mahogany.
OM Venetian cutaway body, Curly soft Maple back and sides, Sitka Spruce top.
Parlour body style, Padauk back and sides, Cedar top, 12 fret 24.9 scale.
